Looking for the quintessential family dog? Look no further! Colt is a handsome yellow gentleman looking for his forever home. This 4 year old male is trained for duck hunting. Unfortunately, life circumstances of his original family led him to SOLR. Colt is a solid built 80 pounds, handsome, and loves retrieving - pool, river, field, you name it! He gets along well with other dogs, but doesn't look to other dogs, and could possibly be an only dog. He loves people - women, men, children - he doesn't play favorites. Colt wants to snuggle, not quite understanding his size, and somehow manages to worm his 80 pound frame into your lap every time!
In foster he's had a school aged foster kid, who he will gladly play with in the pool or yard for hours on end. He's also lived with a cat, and will give chase in play, but is respectful when the cat sets boundaries. He's an easy keeper, with decent food manners. Colt knows the basic sit, stay, come, and walks on a leash. He can be a bit strong on leash at times, and would do best with ongoing leash training. He's had field training, and basic obedience, needs someone to remind him of what he already does know. He would make a great 4-H project dog! He's handsome, smart, and - most important - levelheaded. Colt would also make an amazing companion for an active single person, where he would gladly join in the daily adventures. He's been out hiking on our Arizona trails, and down to the river, he's all terrain!
