The first step in our process is to submit an adoption application via our website: www.solraz.org. Please note that SOLR only adopts to people who live in the state of Arizona.
There is a $15 application fee due with your adoption application. The application fee can be easily paid via credit card using the Donate button at the top of the adoption application or by sending a check to our PO Box listed on the website. Please know that your application will not be evaluated until the application fee is received. These fees, as well as any other donations, go to our medical fund to help us rescue and treat dogs. The application fees also help to maintain and update our website to create a convenient and user-friendly experience for our adopters.
Once your adoption application and fee are received, our home visit team will review your application and contact you if they have any questions or need further information. The application is assigned to a home visit volunteer who will contact you to schedule a home visit. A SOLR volunteer will come to your home to meet you and your family and to view your home and property. All members of the household must be present or the home visit. During the home visit, the home visit volunteer will also answer any questions you have about our rescue and adoption process.
Home visit volunteers then take the information they’ve gathered at your home visit and presented it to our Board of Directors. The Board will decide whether an applicant is approved to adopt from SOLR. SOLR does not approve people to adopt a specific dog. Instead, you will become an approved SOLR adopter in general, and you can call and set up meetings with any dogs you’re interested in. It is up to our foster volunteers to determine which adopter is the best fit for their foster dog, since they know them the best.
Once you become an approved SOLR adopter, you will receive The Paw Print via e-mail once a week. This publication has information on all of our available dogs and contact information for their foster families. When you see a dog you’re interested in, please call the dog’s foster right away. The dogs are shown and adopters are evaluated in the order that calls are received. We are always happy to answer any questions you have about our process. Please discuss with your home visit volunteer or e-mail us directly at: email@example.com
Thank you for rescuing and welcome to the SOLR Family!
