I've found my furever family!

Hi! My Name Is Hunter 2 (Jack)

We're happy to tell you that Hunter 2 (Jack) has a new furever home.
Please visit our Available Dogs Page to see the pups currently available.
Hunter 2 is an 80 lb, 5 year old black Lab that is a super smart sweetheart. He has a very even temperament and is not easily startled.  He is in foster with a group of barkers and leaves that to them.  When he wants to alert he gives a soft gruff.

Hunter likes being loved on and will sit forever for pets.  He does ok with a bath - holds still, just a little hesitant at first.  Riding in the car, he is great, doesn't move an inch!  He needs some coaxing to get in the car though and we're doing the two paws up and lift the back end at the moment.  He can easily jump up though, he just needs more exposure to going in the car.

Hunter walks fairly well on the training leash, pulls a little but is working on it.  He is very treat motivated, and wants nothing more than to please so anything you want to train him to do he should master quickly.  He knows "go lay down", "sit", "no/leave it" and is working on "lay down".  He has not had an accident in his foster home.  He's been let out to potty every couple of hours with other dogs in the home and has been given free roam of the house.  Hunter has been sleeping on a dog bed in his foster's room.  He would love to be invited up to sleep with you or sit with you on the couch!

Hunter's prior owner says he's lived with a cat and kids of varying ages and has done well with both.  This is consistent with what his foster has seen.  His foster home has older female dogs with which he has been very respectful once they told him how it was.  It seems he would like to play with another dog but is fine being an only dog too.  If he is in a home with a very submissive dog he may try to be more dominant.  When on walks he isn't overly interested in getting to other dogs he sees.

Hunter has some dry skin that will possibly need allergy meds - he is doing well on them now.  His foster can discuss this with you further if you're interested in him!

If you're looking for a new bff Hunter would love you to pick him, he has a lot of love to give and is going to make someone a very proud and happy owner!
